Rotary Substitutes & Crossover Subs

Lift subs, float subs, bit subs, pump-in subs, circulating swedges, water bushings and integral drill pipe pup joints.

Rotary Substitutes, commonly referred to as subs and crossovers, are essential when crossing over from one connection size to another between Drill Pipe, Drill Collars or Specialist Tools. Lift Subs are used to handle sections of the drill string using the rigs elevators. Float and But Subs provide a means of protection against back flow up the drill string. Sub-drill’s Rotary Subs, Crossovers and tools are manufactured in house to the highest specifications, and latest industry standards.

Crossover  Subs

A crossover sub is used to connect different sizes of Drill Pipe or Drill collars in the drill string allowing a crossover from one connection size and type to another connection size and type.

Bit Subs

Used to connect the drill bit to the rest of the drill string. They feature a bore for a float valve, which prevent fluid and debris from flowing back up the drill string.

Lifting Subs

Engineered with an elevator recess, allowing sections of the drill string to be handled by the rigs elevators.

Float Subs

Equipped with a float valve, these subs are installed in the drill string to control fluid flow, preventing backflow up the drill string.

Pump-In Subs

A specialised piece of oilfield equipment used in well intervention and pressure control operations. This short, tubular tool is rigged up in a well’s pressure control stack to provide a high-pressure entry point for injecting fluids into the wellbore or providing a means of introducing pressure.

Circulating Swedges

Also known as a circulating sub or circulating head, this crossover adapter is used in oil and gas operations to enable the circulation of fluids through a string of casing or tubing. It is a temporary connection that allows a means of connecting a suitable hose at the rig floor.

Water Bushings

This is a specialised tubular accessory used at the top of a drill pipe or casing string. Its primary functions are safety and allowing the circulation and pressure testing of fluids in the wellbore.

Drill Pipe Pup Joints

A short section of integral drill pipe, typically with threaded ends, used to adjust the length of the drill string. It is a component in the or used to space out specialist tools, equipment or sections of the BHA.
